The Japan Masters Judo Association (JMJA)

A lot of sports are giving old persons the opportunity to join to the championships according to their age. This masters event is the style which began with Canada and in Japan it has also started in track and field around 1980 and followed by swimming and many other sports. Many page will be found when referring to the home page in "Japanese masters" of now.

The judo became the mood to participate at the world masters championships rally in 1998 and the World Masterathletes Judo Championships of the 1st time was done at Welland, Canada in 1999.
The office work bureau has been built when the 2nd time is done at Sydney, Canada in 2000 and the championships after it are done under the control of the World Masterathlete Judo Association. Also, it had been publishing the paper "MASTERS judo in adult" bimonthly, however closed at present.

The 3rd time, it was done in Phenix, United States of America and the 4th time in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

These results, too, are published in the home page of the World Mastersathlete Judo Association.

The 5th time, it has done at the Kodokan in Tokyo, from 23rd June to 28th June 2003. About 900 players and their families has been attend at the Kodokan. That was exciting days in the Kodokan, Tokyo, birthplace of Judo.

Although there has been unsatistification from local committee probably due to culture barrier between Japanese and Canadian in the field of registration, balance, matching and recording which have been performed and limited by Canadian office, we satisfy generally the success of this championships, specially exciting "SAYONARA Party".
The meeting has been managed by many volunteers consisting local committee and the aids from people from various fields both materially and spiritually.

The 6th time held in Vienna, Austria in 2004. The 7th in Tront Canada 2005, the 8th in Tours France 2006, the 9th in Sao Paulo Brazil. Many Japanese players age from 31 to over 80 years old were participated and got medals. The 10th will be held in Brussel Belgium 2008.

At the meeting held in Tokyo 2003, we experienced many unconfortable management by Canadian office and their closed and doubtful finance. After that we are demanding to the Canadian office to move the management of Championships to COC from Canadian office and to disclose the finance and members lists. They gathered many company and dominated the Annual Meeting Vien 2004, consequently the budget with large amount of unstable deficit and unclear expences were approved by the company and also Mr.Noguchi was dismissed from the president, at the same time all Japanese officers were also dismissed.

By the way, to manage the 5th championships, the Japan Masters Judo Association has been established on January 1st, 2002 by the participated persons of the past championships.
Afterthen, many members are included to the executives from the participant of the Japan and the World Masters Judo Championships. However we need now urgently more people loving Judo and having conversational and administrational capacities.

In the World Masters Judo Championships, players doesn't represent their own country nor their own organizaion just but participate by their own responsibility and individually by themselves as the other Masters sports.

The match is diveded in many classes by the sex, the age and the weight. The Kata is also decided as a match in many styles.

The first Japan Masters Judo Championship was held at Hamakita of Shizuoka prefecture on December 2004 by about 300 peoples hosted by Shizuoka Prefecture Judo Association.

The second was held in Ageo, Saitama, with about 500 attendants 2005.

The third was in Okayama on October 13-15, 2006.
The 4th was in Himeji on October 19-21, 2007.
The 5th will be in Akita on October 17-19, 2008 as an international championships.

The office of the Japan Masters Judo Association will help you concerning the championships. Many collegues are expected to participate and to support to our associaton and the Japan Masters Judo Championships.

The individual member's fee is 2000 yen annual, and the account year starts from January 1st and ends at December 31th.
